PR - United Nations agencies in Samoa have this year increased participation and support in the commemoration of the Sixteen Days of Activism to End Violence Against Women (E.V.A.W).
This week marks the kick-start of the international campaign that opens on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25 and runs until Human Rights Day on December 10.
“The UN is pleased to host and support initiatives by Government to end violence against women and create better awareness of gender based violence in Samoa,” said Lizbeth Cullity, the UN Resident Coordinator.
“It’s important that we discuss this issue openly, and that we encourage all stakeholders to engage in activities jointly hosted by the UN Agencies, the Government of Samoa and Non-Government Organizations during the Sixteen Days Campaign.”
Important major events will be supported by the UN this year during the 16 Days.
