The Police have confirmed that they are investigating a complaint against an M.P. over his continued use of a genealogy that court officials claim is in contempt of Court orders.

An order to investigate was based on allegations by complainant, Taimalelagi Na’otala, of Mulifanua, against Member of Parliament, Ifopo Matia Filisi, for breaching a Land and Titles Court order delivered in 2010.
The confirmation came this week from Acting Police Commissioner, Fauono Talalelei Tapu.
“Yes, there is an investigation of Ifopo for contempt,” he said.
Fauono could not give any details into the contempt of court allegation.
But it follows a letter from the Acting Registrar of the Ministry of Justice Courts and Administration, Papali’i John Taimalelagi, requesting Police to investigate Ifopo for not adhering to an appeal case in the Land and Titles Court (LTC) decision.
Dated 27 May 2010 by President of the LTC Tagaloa Kerslake, the decision ordered the M.P. to cease incorrect use of a genealogy by him in his speeches, many of them made in Parliament.
Taimalelagi claims that despite this order made in 2010, Ifopo continued to include the wrong genealogy in his speeches. Last week he said it was “misleading the country”.
