Samoan mother receives Golden Award

RECOGNITION: Mrs Fusi Slade was humbled at the honour of being presented with the Golden Award for her work to advance development of women in the work place. Mrs Slade is the daughter of Rev Setu Amosa and the late Fetufa'asinoala. She is also a mother of two and married to Lance Slade who is also in the Police force.A Samoan mother in Australia has been awarded for her work to advance the development of women at the work place

Fusi Alama Amosa Slade, who works for the Newcastle Police Department, has won the Golden Award for the 2014 Commissioner’s Perpetual Award New South Wales Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione, presented the award to Mrs. Slade at the Police Headquarter in Paramatta, N.S.W. The mother of two is the daughter of Reverend Setu Amosa and the late Fetufa'asinoala Alama Amosa.

She is married to Lance Slade who is also in the Police force.

Mrs. Slade acknowledged the support of her family, friends and co-workers. She said being given such an honour is humbling for her. “As a wife of a serving member – it is hard to lay in bed thinking will he come home, will my boys have a father the next day,” said the mother.

“My deepest respect to those who have lost their lives while serving. My thoughts are with your family.” In accepting the award, this is what Mrs. Slade said:

“I must first and foremost Thank God for his everlasting love. Thank you to Commissioner Scipione for the award and the comments made on the day. Sorry for wiping my tears on your sleeve.

Thank you to Superintendent Craig Rae, Inspector Tony Townsend and those who were behind the scenes that nominated me, you know who you are. Sir, I am glad that you have put Samoa in your bucket list, because we are truly very humble God fearing people...you will not regret it.

For those who do not know Tony Townsend... some might from the 80’s Knights Player...You have been a such an inspiration to my Family… especially for the last year beating Cancer together with your Family, Friends and your Partner Sharon Hayward and children. Well done!

I’d like to thank the NSW Police sworn and unsworn. I know you put your lives out there protecting our community. As a wife of a serving member, it is hard to lay in bed thinking will he come home, will my boys have a Father the next day. My deepest respect to those who have lost their lives whilst serving, my thoughts are with your Family. To my work Family thank you for keeping it real, you are the reason why I come to work. Thanks for making me laugh everyday.

A proud moment for her in which she gave thanks to God, her family and co-workers, and prayers for those who have lost their lives in the Police force service.Although I can’t take all the glory, I would like to Thank my Father Rev. Setu Amosa and my Mother the late Fetufa’asinoala Alama Amosa who raised me to who I am. Always teaching me to “Love one Another” and showing me what real love is and for their everlasting prayers. I love you so much. Also to Mama and Papa who taught me to be humble and for allowing me to take care of you in such short time, but boy I learnt a lot.

Thank you to my Husband Lance, my children Lincoln and Calvin who always supported me and those endless hours helping out with fundraising functions, and those out there, you know who you are, thank you we have a very good team.

To my siblings Alama, Ed, Pana, Tess and Litara and my beautiful Nieces, Luisa and Mya, thank you for your continuous support. I cannot forget and these people are so, so important to my life. I would like to thank my Church Family, these are the very people who keep me humble and keep me grounded every weekend. You are an inspiration to me and my Family. I feel like myself when I am around you.
