Cabinet has approved the suspension of Tupuola Terry Tavita from his duties as Savali Editor, in line with standard practice across any branch of Government, while allegations against him are being investigated by Police. He will receive full pay until the resolution of this case.
In the interim, Cabinet has approved the appointment of Mamea Ulafala as Acting Editor of Savali and Renate Rivers as Acting Press Secretary.
These appointments will be reviewed after Tupuola’s court case, which starts on 19th of January 2015.
DEPUTY P.M. TO TRAVEL TO AUSTRALIA
The Deputy Prime Minister, Fonotoe Pierre Lauofo is travelling to Australia at the invitation of the Samoa Association of Manufacturers & Exporters (S.A.M.E). He is there from the 11 until 15 January 2015.
The Deputy Prime Minister is travelling to Sydney with members of S.A.M.E.
The purpose of the trip is to reaffirm S.A.M.E’s preparations for the upcoming Samoa Trade Show to be held in Sydney in March of this year.
The delegation will also advertise display promotions through newspapers and broadcast agencies while in Australia.
$50,000 FOR SAMOA NETBALL ASSOCIATION
Cabinet approved financial assistance of $50,000 for the Samoa Netball Association, part of which assisted the team’s preparations for the 6 Nations Tournament that was held in Singapore last December and for upcoming test matches against New Zealand and Fiji later this month.
These test matches are part of Samoa’s preparations for the upcoming 2015 World Cup contest this year.
CONTRACT AWARDED TO THE KOOLINE
Cabinet has approved the contract awarded to Kooline Refrigeration Co Ltd for the General Upgrade & Refurbishment of the Central Air Conditioning System of the Accident Compensation Corporation (A.C.C) Building.
The tender for this contract was advertised for public interest and three contractors submitted applications of bids. The applications were assessed by the Sub Committee before a recommendation was submitted to Cabinet for the final decision
