Stressing the point “A healthy nation is a wealthy nation”, Tuitama reminded the health workers that collectively as a ministry they are responsible if the country is not economically viable.

“Because sick people cannot work, sick people are not productive,” he said. “So if you want our nation to be wealthy we do our part to make sure that our nation is healthy.”

Further, he underscored the value of time in the Health sector.

“A stitch in time saves life it really means that a timely intervention will save a lot of lives so I ask you to make early decisions and to make wise decisions,” he said.

“Early intervention (is needed) to prevent our ministry from heading towards the wrong direction.”

Secondly, he also stressed the importance of team work within the health sector saying that as a department, “we go forward, divided we fall.”

“Don’t ever think that you can solve the problem of the world, you need to work together with your team.”

“If you feel tired don’t influence others to follow your decisions but encourage others to go ahead...”

Finally, he challenged his fellow workers in the Health Sector, “Ask not what your government can do for you but ask what you can do for your government.”
