If education is a way out of poverty, then young Samoans took the first steps toward a prosperous and bright future yesterday.
The school year 2015 opened yesterday with the sun shining bright and with hundreds of students clad in their colourful uniforms crowding the different learning institutions.
Principal of Fa’atuatua Christian College, Selepa Tipama’a expressed her optimism.
“(2015) is definitely something better...for any Principal, it’s always an expectation for the new year to be better than the previous year not just in terms of performance but other aspects of development as well within the school.”
She also shared how they, as educators are becoming more diverse in their approach in teaching the students citing the diversity of students.v Among the challenges they faced during the previous year is the resources.
“The major challenge ...for any school in Samoa is definitely upgrading resources to meet the needs of curriculum.”
“The fact that we deal with students from all sorts of background; There are some that are easy to deal with and there are also some that are very difficult but we hope that as teachers we be flexible enough to be able to adjust,”
“If you can’t change then you adjust to the situation so that learning is fun and enjoyable.”
