E.F.K.S. TV is owned and operated by the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa under the auspices of its Missionary Committee.

“It is part of the mandate of this television station that it assists in the promotion of all sports within the country,” said C.C.C.S. General Secretary Dr Iutisone Salevao.

He said this initiative was important for the development of the youth of the church and the country.

The General Secretary pointed out that E.F.K.S. TV management has been negotiating to bring international sporting events to be shown live for everyone to see.

E.F.K.S. TV recently brought the A.F.C. Asian Cup tournament live to our screens, thrilling us all with the skills of Australia’s greatest ever soccer player and former Samoan international, Tim Cahill.

“It is important to look at a variety of sports as not everyone is into rugby,” said E.F.K.S. TV manager, Tuiasau Leota Uelese Petaia.

BLUEBIRD CHAIRMAN: Tuiaopo Andrew Ah Liki.“The Church supports E.F.K.S. TV management in this view of a variety of sports and it is great to see a lot of support from the business community for these efforts,” said Dr Salevao.

The General Secretary went on to thank Bluebird Lumber Corporate for “their support of local sport by signing on to be major sponsor for the Bluebird RBS Six Nations championship.”

Bluebird chairman, Tuiaopo Andrew Ah Liki said he was “delighted to be able to offer this sponsorship to help in the promotion of sport in the country.”

“With a limited job market in the country, promoting sport with our young generation will encourage those with sporting talents to pursue careers in sport, which is very rewarding financially these days,” said Tuiaopo.

Dr Salevao agreed adding that “Samoa has some players playing in this tournament so it would be good for us to see them playing through this promotion,” said Dr Salevao.

Also signing on as associate sponsors for the 2015 championships are: Bluesky Samoa, Arco Chemicals, Uncle Johnny’s Ice Cream, St Therese Accommodation, the Health Education Unit of the Ministry of Health and Origin Energy.

He also indicated that E.F.K.S. TV hopes to bring other sporting events like Golf, Cricket, Tennis, Boxing and Volleyball, “but we are still negotiating so we will release more details when they are finalized”.

The first round of matches start tomorrow morning (Sat 7 Feb) between Wales and England at 9:45am. The Sunday morning matches are Italy VS Ireland at 4:15am and France vs Scotland at 6:45am.
