The Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi says he will wait for the Supreme Court sentence on the Associate Minister of Trade, Muagututagata Peter Ah Him before considering any further action against him.
Speaking to the media on Thursday last week, the Prime Minister said he is aware that the matter is still before the Court.
Muagututagata was found guilty by the Supreme Court Judge, Justice Vui Clarence Nelson last week of two charges after a Chinese company he is a shareholder in, sued him.
The two charges are using a “false document as if it was genuine” and “intent to defraud Grand Ocean Industries by false pretenses…”
Grand Ocean Industries, the Chinese company is the plaintiff. Tuilaepa said the Associate Minister has not yet been sentenced. “The decision (sentence) has not been made,” Tuilaepa told the media. “Whether he loses his seat will depend on the decision delivered.”
Getting behind his Associate Minister, Tuilaepa said, “We pray that the M.P is comforted. “Things happen and we sometimes forget that we get involved and we later understand that the cup has been spilled.”
Lastly, Tuilaepa said only the Judge knows what decision should be made. Muagututagata and his wife Sala Ana Ah Him operate the Apia Business Machine company. He is presently on bail awaiting his sentence on Monday, 23rd February 2015.
