Samoa’s casting team of Fiona Collins and Naea Asolelei To’alepai for the upcoming Walt Disney animation feature ‘Moana’, have set the place and date for auditions in Upolu.

There will also be auditions held in Savaii at a later time to be advised.
“The Upolu venue is the Insel Fehmarn Hotel this Saturday (21 February) from 10am to 8pm” said Fiona. “We want you to call on 750- 2462 to book a time and those of you who do, will get first priority.”
“Please remember it is a Disney Animation Film - the auditions are not about how you look as such, but how well you can sing in the style requested, and your acting skills. A strong command of English is recommended,” said Naea.
“Learn your songs in the style of either Disney, musical theatre tunes or show songs,” said Fiona.
“Choose a song you know well and can sing confidently,” she said.
The age range has now been extended to females aged between 14-24 years old and both Fiona and Naea are stressing that while they are looking for someone with a strong singing voice and some acting skills, a lot of experience is not necessary.
The comedy-adventure, Moana, is set 2,000 years ago in Oceania and is about a spirited teenager who learns that the future of her people is in jeopardy.
Along with a loveable pot-belly pig and a legendary hero, Moana searches for a mythical island, traversing the open ocean and encountering mystical sea creatures and underworlds on an action-packed quest to save her world and make her ancestors proud.
The best advice, according to an overseas agent, is to choose a song that shows off your voice rather than something that is popular.
A song that shows your entire vocal range - the highest and lowest notes that you are comfortable with, and aiming for beautifully controlled singing rather than volume is what the casting agents will be looking for. Show tunes are really best, and steering clear of Disney songs unless you are really great at them, is also recommended.
