Waikato Chiefs midfielder Tim Nanai Williams is scheduled to join the Manu Samoa next week for the historical test between the Manu Samoa and the All Blacks on 8 July.
And should the Hurricanes lose this weekend, another midfielder, Rey Lee Lo, is likely to feature for Samoa at Apia Park. This was confirmed by the Samoa Rugby Union yesterday, the second day of the Manu Samoa extended squad camp at Tofamamao.
The announcement of 26 players for the All Blacks is scheduled for next Tuesday.
In the meantime, the players boys who arrived from new Zealand on Sunday night, joined the local players for camp at Leauva’a on Sunday night.
The Manu Samoa team will train there for a week.
Officials confirmed that Monday was committed to administration work with light workouts.
This week, for the boys it’s all about planning and screening, medicals and to get the team culture going, before moving closer to Apia.
“It’s very much about culture and finding a team vibe,” the official said.
Meanwhile, two gyms have been set up at the resort for training.
“They’re settling in well and just starting to get into the business now.”
