The village of Faleapuna is small but it has produced many champions.
That’s what two Manu Samoa players preparing for the biggest challenge of their international careers in Apia were told last week.
Halfback, Kahn Fotuali’i and lock, Teofilo Paulo were encouraged by former boxing champion, Emelio Leti, during a ceremony when the two were bestowed chiefly titles at the Laoa o Falepoulima.
Fotuali’i was bestowed the title of Sailimalo while Teofilo was bestowed the title Faiga.
A third Manu Samoa player, Daniel Leo, was honoured with the Fauono title.
His father, Muguti’a Sio Leo, accepted the title on his behalf. Fauono Daniel also gifted the Faleapuna rugby team with a new uniform, courtesy of London Irish Rugby and Mark Woodward.
The uniforms were brought to Samoa by George Skivington.
