Four people were arrested and are being held in Police custody.

More than 60 Police officers, a number of them armed, took part in the early morning raid where they traversed inland terrain of Faleatiu that previous raids had failed to reach.

Fifteen Police vehicles were used during the raid as a result of tip offs from members of the public. Back at the Police headquarters yesterday af ternoon, Police Commissioner, Egon Keil, said the latest raid is part of the Police effort to keep Samoa safe.

“I want to make sure my family, your family and the whole community here in Samoa are safe,” the Commissioner said.

According to the Commissioner, the officers raided several families in the village. He said the Police started at dawn and continued all the way up to the foot of the mountain at Faleatiu, an area notorious for supplying marijuana.

Mr. Keil said a large area covered yesterday had not been touched by the Police before given the history of battles between Police and marijuana dealers in the area.

The raid yesterday was conducted as part of “Operation Man on the hill (M.O.T.H).”

Mr. Keil headed the operation. “You talk it, you walk it,” he said about the importance of leading from the front.

“It wasn't an easy task,” Mr. Keil added.

“But this is what we are here to do, we want to keep Samoa safe and part of that is getting rid of drugs in Samoa.”

He was quick to acknowledge the hard work of his team and everyone who played a part.

He also acknowledged the support from members of the public and the Australian Federal Police.

Yesterday’s raid followed a raid of two weeks ago where the Police found ice, guns and a large amount of money on a property at Afiamalu.
