Positive attitude does it - Miss Samoa contestant

“Don’t hold yourself back, fight for yourself and believe you can do great things.” That’s message from Miss Ferri Styla, Laura Maiai, who is among six contestants vying for the 2015 Miss Samoa Pageant to be held next Saturday at Gym 1 Tuana’imato.

Ms. Maiai hails from the villages of Moamoa, Alamagoto, Matautu-uta and Vaitele-uta.

Asked why she entered the pageant, she says she believes she can make a positive contribution to Samoa by motivating the young people of Samoa to be the best they can be.

“I was working at the Leon then I saw the advertisement for the Miss Samoa applications and I thought to myself, hey I want to challenge myself I can do it,” she says.

Ms. Maiai believes her strong Catholic upbringing, confidence and unique personality are attributes that will assist her on her journey through the Miss Samoa pageant.

Asked what she would do if she wins, she says she would do the best she can to help the people of Samoa and to be the best role model to all the Samoan ladies.

“I want to ensure I represent Samoa in the best way possible,” she says.

Ms. Maiai’s interests include Fashion, RnB music (Beyonce fan), Polynesian dancing and singing.

Miss Ferri Styla’s favorite former Miss Samoa is Janine Tuivaiti for her natural beauty, talent and great smile.

She also admires how Janine Tuivaiti was raised in New Zealand and still holds strong Samoan values.

Childhood memories: Miss Ferri Styla Laura Maiai as a child receiving her first communion.Ms. Maiai attended St. Mary’s college.

She went to study at Tesese Institute of Administrative studies where she obtained a certificate in office administration and computers.

She is planning to attend the Australian Pacific Technical College to undertake a course in tourism.

Her long-term goal is to become a flight attendant and travel the world.
