In the lead up to the National Antibiotics Awareness Week from November 16th – 22nd, a poetry competition was held on Radio 89.1 FM throughout last week.

It was a joint initiative by the Antimicrobial Resistance Working Committee comprising of members from the National Health Services, Ministry of Health, and W.H.O, and organized by OneLook Communications.
This was done to engage the community and to make them aware of the dangers of not using antibiotics as prescribed. Each of the five winners received $200.
The Antibiotics Awareness Campaign has as its theme, Fa’aaogā with Love, to drive home the message of using antibiotics with care and love for future generations who may not be able to enjoy the benefits of antibiotics as they are losing their power due to irresponsible use.
This theme is also highlighted in a series of television ads, one featuring the Women’s Committee of the Levi, Saleimoa Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (pictured), to raise awareness about the need to use antibiotics responsibly. Photos: OneLook Communications
