An appeal against a conviction by Deputy Prime Minister, Fonotoe Pierre Lauofo, has been adjourned by the Supreme Court until 15 December.

The decision was made by his Honour, Chief Justice Patu Tiava’asue Falefatu Sapolu, yesterday.
When the matter was brought before the Chief Justice, Fonotoe’s lawyer, Donald Kerslake, sought an adjournment so he could finalise the trial documents.
Lawyer, Rexona Titi, appeared for the Attorney General’s Office.
His Honour Chief Justice granted Mr. Kerselake’s application.
The Deputy Prime Minister is appealing his conviction in a traffic related offense that occurred on Beach Road, October last year.
In sentencing Fonotoe in May this year, District Court Judge Vaepule Vaemoa Va’ai found him guilty of obstructing police from carrying out their duties following a heated argument on the night of October 4th. He was also ordered to pay $200 for police costs.
In his decision, Vaepule described the manner from the Deputy Prime Minister as “arrogant” on the night, leaving police “stunned and professionally deflated.”
Another Member of Parliament Muagututagata Peter Ah Him who was involved was discharged without conviction.
