Head of State welcomes special visitor

SPECIAL GUEST: Sir Iakoba Taeia with His Highness, Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi .

A visit by the Governor of Tuvalu, Sir Iakoba Taeia, to the Head of State, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi, on Friday, was more than just a courtesy call.

It was an opportunity His Highness Tui Atua to make a special presentation to Sir Taeia.

The presentation of gifts included; a siapo and a special fine mat to remind about the special connection between Samoa and Tuvalu.

Tupa’i Fiamatai who made the presentation on behalf of His Highness Tui Atua reminded that the origin of Tuvaluans is Savai’i.

Sir Iakoba is the Chancellor of the University of the South Pacific. He was in the country to confer certificates, diplomas and degrees during the University’s graduation on Friday.

During the visit to the Head of State, Sir Taeia was accompanied by Pro-Chancellor and Chair of Council, Ikbal Janiff.
