That is all the proceeds raised from a concert held two weeks ago will go towards two charities; Mapuifagalele and to the Methodist Church Parish at Matafele.

Parker performed at Mapuifagalele while he was there to present them with a donation of $7,000.Both places are special to the musician.

Mapuifagalele was his way of giving back to the community for all the support and the Methodist Parish because he was a member of the Sunday school and music group when he was younger.

His family continues to attend the church.

Verona Parker, a family member spoke on his behalf during the presentation at Mapuifagalele yesterday afternoon.

Mrs Parker revealed that the event raised $14,000. It was split in half between Mapuifagalele and the Methodist Church.

Based in Melbourne, Australia, Leatuli said he plans to continue donating to Mapuifagalele.

“This concert was the first and the last here in Samoa but I will find another way to donate,” he said.

He suggested donations might come from the sale of his CD's.

For those of you who don’t know and have never heard of Leatuli, he is better known as ‘Billy’, ‘Richard’ or ‘Risati.’ He is the voice behind Samoan love songs such as; Sau ia lou au, Ave Uma ma oe, My Island Lady and many more.

The singer believes God gave him this talent so that he could give back to “our people”.

Rev. Taumfai Komiti on behalf of the Matafele Methodist Parish said the members of the church were very proud of Leatuli and his talent.

An elderly parent at Mapuifagalele on behalf of everyone there thanked Leatuli for the generous donation. He also gave him his blessings and best wishes.
