Two government bodies have started the working year in 2015 without their Chief Executive Officers.
The Electoral Commissioner, Papali’i Malietau Malieletoa and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration, Masinalupe Tusipa Masinlupe have been on suspension since last year, pending an investigation by the Public Service Commission (P.S.C).
An attempt to get an update on the state of the P.S.C’s investigation yesterday was not successful. An email to P.S.C’s Chief Executive Officer, Fuimapoao Beth Onesemo- Tuilaepa, was not responded to at press time last night.
Last month however, Fuimapoao confirmed the suspension of the two senior officials.
“We need to undertake an investigation and to ensure that the investigation is not hampered and unduly influenced in any way and our investigators can access information and witnesses, we need to suspend the two CEOs as everything is under their control,” she said.
“They are suspended until further notice and we await the investigating report until a further decision on their future is made."
The Samoa Observer understands that this report could be completed by the end of the week and then it will be passed on for a final decision.
At the Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration, Deputy Registrar, Li’o Wilhelm Heinrich Siemsen, said they are still waiting for the outcome of the invesgtigation.
Both C.E.Os are suspended with pay.
