S.V.S.G. President, Lina Chang and Ms. Donina Vaa.About 40 members of the So’onalote Family of Salailua Savaii visited the children survivors at the Campus of Hope Tuana’imato last week.

The visit was the first activity as part of the Family Reunion programme for the So’onalote Family.

Initiated by Donina Va’a, a member of the family who has been liaising with Victim Support in coordinating the visit, the idea was for the family to spend time with and present donations for the children as their way of giving back to the community.

Through singing and dancing, the So’onalote Family put up a marvelous performance for the children.

The message from the Family for the children was simple – “You are loved by the community especially God who have used Victim Support to reach out to you in your most trying times.”

According to the family’s spokesperson, Reverend Alosina Vavae, once approval was granted from the Samoa Victim Support for the visit to the children’s shelter, the family in Samoa and abroad commenced fundraising activities.

When they visited, they presented $9,000 and food supplies.

“This is the way for the So’onalote Family to say thank you to the President and staff for the tireless effort in supporting these special children,” said Rev. Vavae.

President of Victim Support Group, Siliniu Lina Chang acknowledged firstly the initiative by Ms. Donina Va’a which made the visit possible.

She also thanked Paupusi Chrichton, an active S.V.S.G Village Representative for Falefa and a member of the Family, for taking her village representative role to heart, which has brought her whole family together for the children at the shelter.

“This is the essence of Victim Support’s work, it is all about bringing together the community and families as part of SVSG’s growing family,” said Siliniu.

“Faafetai, Faafetai Faafetai tele lava to the Soonalote Family for the heart to be a part of our support network and we wish you well with your Family gathering.”
