The document was signed by the Minister, Tolofuaivalelei Falemoa Lei’ataua, Chief Executive Officer, Leituala Kuiniselani Elisara, Division for Youth A.C.E.O. Seletuta Pita, S.N.Y.C. Executive Board President, Jennifer Ula-Fruean and Program coordinator, Matthew Tofilau.

The M.O.U sets for the terms and understanding between the Ministry’s Division for Youth and the youth council.

The M.O.U. also provides for the planning and implementation of youth programs which requires both organizations to be involved in the planning process and in the implementation of youth activities where necessary.

It also provides for the sharing of available resources of both organizations.

According to the S.N.Y.C. President, Ms Ula- Fruean said the M.O.U. is important as it is their way of collaborating with the ministry in terms of programs that they can implement.

She added that the M.O.U also solidifies the communication between the two. It allows the sharing of information especially the inputs of the S.N.Y.C. on policies.

Outgoing M.C.W.S.D. C.E.O. Leituala stressed the importance of the link between the two entities saying it is an “opportunity to have an understanding of what our roles and responsibilities are in terms of the work on youth development”.

“It is also an opportunity to define what it is we want to do jointly” but “it will not limit the two organisations from other opportunities where they can freely explore and engage in building opportunities for young people.”

She also expressed her hopes that the new leadership of the ministry will continue to honour the M.O.U. and take it further in terms of doing more great things with S.N.Y.C. and doing better things for the young people of Samoa.
