$45,000.00 for weightlifting

Cabinet has approved financial assistance of $45,000 for the Samoa Weightlifting Federation to help with their preparations for two upcoming weightlifting international championship tournaments.

The Arnold International championship tournament in Australia will be held on 13 - 15 March 2015, and the Oceania Championship in Papua New Guinea will be on 1 – 4 July 2015.

The focus of the Samoa Weightlifting Federation is to gain international experience, and to win medals for the country. The two tournaments will also help with team Samoa’s preparations for the Rio Olympic Games 2016.

RENOVATION OF MALIETOA TANUMAFILI II HOSPITAL
Cabinet has awarded contract to Ah Liki Construction for Renovation and Extension Works for the Malietoa Tanumafili II Hospital, Tuasivi, Savaii.

The tender for the project was advertised for public interest, and six companies submitted applications of bids.

An assessment was conducted by the Sub Committee according to the tender bidding document before a recommendation was tabled before Cabinet for the final decision.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR MARIST SPORTS CLUB
Cabinet has approved financial assistance of $20,000.00 for Marist Sports Club to assist with the XXVIIth Vailima Marist Samoa 7s scheduled for 26 – 28 February 2015.

This tournament will run for three days due to the increasing number of competing teams which include teams from New Zealand, Fiji and American Samoa.

This is one of the local Sevens Tournaments that has contributed to the development of the sport in the country.

CATERING SERVICES FOR COMMONWEALTH GAMES
Cabinet has approved the awarding of contract to Dora’s Catering and OKT Co. Ltd for Catering Services for the Commonwealth Youth Games 2015, Groups 1 & 3.

The Groups 1 and 3 comprises of athletes and accompanying officials.

The tenders were advertised for public interest and three companies submitted applications of bids.

The tenders were assessed by the Sub Committee according to the tender bidding documents before a recommendation was tabled before Cabinet for the final decision.
