This was revealed by the U.S Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires, Peter Ganser, yesterday when the group including Paul Soliai, Isaako Aaitui, Olivier Vernon, Koa Misi and Samson Satele visited the LDS College at Pesega.

The group is in Samoa conduct school visits and run football clinics at selected schools.

“We have just established the position of an Education Advisor in our Embassy,” said Mr. Ganser. “It will start in about two months and it’s going to be a programme where that advisor is going to work with schools here.

“We are going to identify students to take the Scholastic Aptitude (S.A.T) Test which is the entrance exam for the United State Universities to work with students who are interested and see if we can qualify them for scholarship in the United States.”

According to Mr. Ganser, all universities in the United States have set aside “about 10percent of their scholarship money for foreign students.”

“I have worked around the world and we have had an enormous amount of success placing those students into universities,” he said.

“We hope to repeat that here.”

Mr. Ganser said there are also a lot of opportunities for athletics scholarships in the U.S and he is hoping to get Samoan students involved.

EXPLOSIVENESS IS KEY: Isaako Aaitui works students whom he hopes will one day make it to the big time.“We don’t expect everyone to be N.F.L stars,” he said. “However, we want to send a message that we have a lot of opportunities for athletics scholarship and academic scholarships in the U.S universities that we hope to get Samoan students involved with.

“The N.F.L is about getting out, exercising becoming healthy through sports and that’s the message. It resonates very well here in Samoa.”

At Pesega yesterday, the NFL stars encouraged the students there to study hard and train hard.

The NFL players are here as part of the Paul Soliai Foundation, which is dedicated to promoting health and fitness among youth. Their mission is to provide information and motivation to children, youth and adults about the risks of obesity and poor health.

Local coaches assisting with the program are Leapai Richard Brown, Edwin Mulitalo, Agatupu Lefao and Eli Kapu.

Their schedule today 9-11:30 a.m: Avele College 4-5 p.m: Visit to Rugby Academy Samoa at Pesega College
