A restaurant called the “11th Commandment” has opened at Vaitele-fou.
And what is the 11th commandment?
“Thou shall dine within,” is the answer.
Behind the restaurant located on top of the Vaitele hill is Reverend Popo Su’a and his family.
“After serving at the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa at Porirua New Zealand for 42 years, I always said this to my children ‘Samoa is the best place to develop families,” he said.
According to Rev. Popo, their house at Vaitele was built so that his children working at the Faleolo Airport can get a rest, instead of having to drive all the way to Tiapapata where their house is.
“Then I looked at this area, after building the house, and thought, it’s not a house to rest but a restaurant,” he said.
“I called it ‘Thou shall dine within’ and that is my ‘11th Commandment’.”
He added: “It is important to feed the body with food so that everyone can continue to live happily and serve God everyday.”
Rev. Popo acknowledged his children, joking that as they built the house, he and his wife Epenesa as parents, will manage all the money.
Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, senior government officials and members of the business community attended the official opening on Tuesday.
