Henry Hunkin, who co-owns the popular Amani Restaurant with his wife, Tau Hunkin, told the Sunday Samoan he is looking forward to the big day.

“It’s all God and I give him the glory,” he said.

“May God be the most glorified. There are so many good singers around, but He blessed me.”

Mr. Hunkin is no stranger to the music industry.

And it’s not the first time he has sung Samoa’s national anthem at a rugby event.

But this Wednesday’s performance will be an all time high for Mr. Hunkin.

The businessman who is on his second year of studies at the Rhema Bible Training Centre said he was humbled when he was asked by the Samoa Rugby Union’s Acting Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O), Faleomavaega Vincent Fepulea’i, to sing.

The national anthem was originally supposed to be performed by Sol3 Mio.

But Faleomavaega said the Samoa Rugby Union could not afford to fly them over.

“I take my hat off to Sol3 Mio,” Mr. Hunkin said.

“I know their hearts are here.”

During their last visit to Samoa, the Sol3 Mio trio visited Amani’s Restaurant and caught up with Mr Hunkin over some pork buns.

When it comes to singing, he has performed at pageants, music awards, sports awards.

He used to sing at the former Kitano Tusitala Hotel and other places.

Mr. Hunkin will be joined by soprano Marlena Ott Devoe during the national anthems.

She will sing New Zealand’s anthem in Maori and English.
