Tuilaepa is one of the patrons of the Club and will deliver the keynote address of the anniversary celebrations launch tomorrow, Thursday, 17 September 2015 at its hall at Lotopa at 6 p.m.

The Club came into existence when the two Marist clubs, namely Marist Rugby Club and St Joseph’s Rugby Club, decided to merge in 1970. Following its merger, the Club has contributed to the development of rugby in Sāmoa through its many players who went on to play for Manu Sāmoa and the Club’s annual Vailima Marist International Sevens Rugby Tournament which it has successfully hosted for 27 years now.

This year, MSJ Sports Club is planning to celebrate its 45th anniversary:

(a) to recognize the club’s contribution to rugby in Samoa;

(b) to pay tribute to those who had played for the club (past and present); (c) to honour those who have assisted the club these past years, especially the sponsors; and

(d) to raise funds to help with the club’s development and projects.

Prior to the launch, a press conference will be held at 5.30 p.m. to announce various activities during the celebrations which will be held from Friday, October 30th to Sunday, November 01st.

The Club therefore invites its players (past and present), families, supporters, sponsors and Marist fraternity to attend the launch this Thursday. Light refreshments will be provided.
