Ropati Nauer appeared before Supreme Court Justice Mata Keli Tuatagaloa last Friday for sentencing.
He faced up to seven years of imprisonment for receiving stolen goods.
According to the Police summary of facts read out in Court, the accused received a Samsung S2 mobile phone from another inmate, Tuisauta Soti.
Nauer knew it was stolen, but chose to keep it.
Justice Tuatagaloa said pleading not guilty to the offence was an aggravating factor in the sentencing, with no mitigating factors present.
“No-one knows what you have done to the phone.”
