The story of Nelson Mandela shows the power of humility, says one of the country’s religious leaders and authors, Sapa’u Ruperake Petaia.
A pastor of Congregational Christian Church of Lefaga, and well-known poet and writer in Samoa, Rev. Petaia described Mandela as a “hero”.
“About him? He was the man of faith, a man of prayer.”
“He was a man of victory who stood up for the poor and everyone that lived at a very low level of life.”
“And that’s how he ended up at the top of the world, because of that heart of love.”
“He didn’t use weapons, his knowledge, wealth or any other related assets to become a leader.”
“It was all through how he humbled himself, forgave those who wronged him, his faith in God and how he believed in the power of prayer.”
“He is a man of God and a full heartedman.”
“Those were his weapons.”
“He was created by God to be born and help save the lives of so many people and become the one who exercised the good example of Jesus in the whole wide...wow...amazing!”
“In my opinion, from the time he was in prison for his people, that tells us that not only he survives for his people but to let everyone know that the victory comes when we humble ourselves.”
“He stood for what is right for South Africa and when we look at how he won, it tells and shows us, how great thou God is.”
“What Nelson Mandela did for his people is just the same of how our passed fathers stood to fight for the independence of our Samoa.”
“Samoa is now founded on God and that will never be replaced again.”
He said that Nelson Mandela was one of those great men that God showed His Mighty power through his life.
“His history will remain forever to guide, encourage and motivate everyone to walk with the Lord no matter what challenges we are facing our way.”
“He is a hero’ Rev. Petaia said that Mandela was like Moses leading God’s people.
“He didn’t use any weapon to protect the people of Israel, only powerful weapons of faith, belief and prayer.”
“God is faithful to every single promise he makes, like those made in Mathew 5 that says;
“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth, blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy, blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God, blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
“He deserves blessings in every single breath of his journey through life.”
Rev. Petaia said that even though we live but God has his own timing to everyone.
“When he calls, there is nothing much we can do, no matter how many plans we already put in place, there is no other way we can stop God and His plan for our lives, we must prepare every time.”
