Preparations for this year’s Miss Samoa Pageant are well underway with McDonald’s Family Restaurant being given the official naming rights.
On Thursday night, Lei’ataua Jerry Brunt, announced McDonald’s sponsorship during a special gathering at the Samoa Tourism Authority Fale.
The President and Chief Executive of McDonald’s Family Restaurant, Tautolo Charlie Agaoleatu presented $105,000 to the Chairman of the Miss Samoa Pageant Committee, the Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi.
Tautolo said McDonald’s is proud to be associated with the pageant.
“I am proud to be able to assist and it’s an honour for us to be here this evening and to be a part of this pageant,” he said.
Prime Minister Tuilaepa acknowledged Tautolo and the management of McDonald’s. Looking ahead to this year’s event though, Tuilaepa told the organisers to keep the programme “short and sweet.”
“A long programme would bore people,” he said.

The pre-pageant week starts on 25 to 29 August.
The pre-pageant activities begin on 13 August, culminating with the winner being crowned on 6 September 2014.
The theme of this year’s Pageant is “We are Samoa.”
