NEW CHAIRMAN: Peseta Dr. Desmond Mene Lee Hang.Peseta Dr. Desmond Mene Lee Hang has been elected the new Chairman of the Leadership Samoa Programme Board of Trustees.

The decision was made last Friday during the Programme’s Annual General Meeting.

Peseta was a member of the Leadership Samoa Class of 2012. He was appointed in early 2013 as the Leadership Samoa Alumni Representative to the Board of Trustees.

During the Annual General Meeting this year he was confirmed as a permanent member of the Board before he was nominated and unanimously voted in as the first L.S.P Alumni to lead the Board of Trustee.

Peseta is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Science at the National University of Samoa. He is also a Director of the Samoa National Kidney Foundation Board.

Other Executive Board positions saw Maryann Lameko-Va’ai and Manu Samoa Christine Sa’aga both continue as Treasurer and General Secretary of the Leadership Samoa Programme respectively.

The incoming Chairman and members of the Leadership Samoa Programme thank the outgoing Chairman, Taumalaulu Filifilia Iosefa, for the great work that he has done over the two years he served as Chairman of the programme.

This is Leadership Samoa’s fourth year of activity (since its establishment in 2011) as the organisation continues to develop its niche in the country as the premier NGO with leadership on its mind and in its heart.

Leadership Samoa offers a unique programme that provides the platform for emerging leaders to appreciate the ‘bigger picture’ about the pressing developmental issues facing our nation and our region in real time.

Leadership Samoa has benefitted from its links to the Emerging Pacific Leaders Dialogue (E.P.L.D) model of leadership development and has created a quintessentially Samoan model of leadership mentoring and exploration which has resulted in a holistic cross-sectoral professional development program for emergent leaders.

The specially devised programme consists of face-to-face mode of learning over a period of 10 months; involving leadership workshops; seminar presentations and group projects built around 25 national study tours, visiting the various sectors in Samoa.
