The ties between the National University of Samoa (N.U.S) and the Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (A.P.U) were renewed yesterday.
It follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, opening the doors for Samoan students to study at the Japanese University.
The signing was held at the National University of Samoa’s administration building at the Taputo’i Conference Room.
According to a release, the first M.O.U. between the Universities was signed in 1999.
This was to cater for staff mobility, cross faculty and institute research activities, exchange programmes between N.U.S. and A.P.U., students as well as full tuition reduction scholarships for students applying to the A.P.U. Schools of Asia
Pacific Management and Asia Pacific studies.
The new revised agreement, however, specifically targets top students who will be officially nominated by the management of N.U.S. to be awarded the scholarship.
The M.O.U means there is no limit to the number of applicants to be awarded this opportunity to study in Japan.
A.P.U. Vice President of the Admissions, International Cooperation and Research Affairs, Francisco Jr. Fellizar said it was a joy to be able to work with N.U.S. “to shape the future of our people”.
He said it is important for both universities to nurture productive, successful and efficient human resources with noble perspectives.
“I hope we will continue to exchange experiences and for you to give us suggestions to better improve how we manage the students there and tell us how to develop our people.”
N.U.S Vice Chancellor, Professor Fui Asofou So’o thanked A.P.U
He said it was a privilege for N.U.S. to be affiliated with A.P.U not only because of its standing in the global scene but its track record in nurturing efficient and intelligent students.Image may be NSFW.
