Sails Restaurant attracted a sizable crowd on Friday night for the launching of the Valuer’s Code of Ethics, Rules of Conduct, Valuation Standards and Practices.
The event was attended by Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials as well as members of the business community.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (M.N.R.E), the manuals are to provide guidelines to assist valuers in Samoa to be responsible, transparent and be accountable for any their actions and conduct.
The occasion was a milestone for the government who took the initiative to prepare and publish the manuals.
“The publication of these Manuals comes in a very good time given the many challenges now faced by valuers in conducting their work and also the changing circumstances now faced in their work environment,” a statement from Ministry said.
“We believe these Manuals will greatly assist local valuers in carrying out their duties more diligently without being biased reflecting the elements of accountability and transparency in their actions.
“These ethics, rules and national valuation standards and practice notes are adopted from International best practices not undermining law and customs of our culture.
“We hope these Manuals will serve its sole purpose and with the aims to have these manuals reviewed and revised to cater for the changing needs of our clients and stakeholders from time to time.”
