A 36-year-old man is in Police custody following the attack on his 37-year-old cousin last week on Sunday, at Vailele.
The accused allegedly used an axe to attack the victim, leaving him in a very critical condition and resulting in him being rushed to hospital for treatment.
The alleged attacker is expected to appear in court on 31st March for his first appearance.

He is currently being held in custody on a charge of actual bodily harm.
Acting Police Commissioner Fauono Talalelei Tapu said the incident occurred as a result of differences between the accused and the victim.
“The victim was injured and is slowly recovering from the attack.”
The alleged attacker and the victim were engaged in a drinking session prior to the near fatal incident.
The two men are cousins.
A family member, who did not want to be named, said the two had never before engaged in a fight.
Their family was shocked to hear someone screaming from the back of the house only to find one of the cousins critically injured.
More charges are expected to be laid against the accused once the investigation into the matter is fully completed, said Fauono.
Attempts to get confirmation of the attack from police were unsuccessful until yesterday.
