The man responsible for the brutal deaths of two men from his village of Ulutogia is scheduled to appear in Court for his first appearance on 31st March.
Media allegations that the man suffered from a mental condition were disputed yesterday by Police.
Acting Police Commissioner Fauono Talalelei Tapu said the man is not “mental”.
Fauono, who visited the site of the offence, said the accused is showing no remorse for his actions.
But the fatal attacks have left Samoa stunned. He is in custody on charges of murder of the men he allegedly attacked with a machete.
According to family members, the accused crept into the men’s home late at night before attacking them.
The three men had gotten into an argument a day prior to the murders while collecting from a coconut plantation.
It is believed the argument was in relation to land matters.
The deceased are a 41-yearold father of 3 and a 27-year-old father of one. Both men were married and related to the accused.
