The Samoa Judiciary in partnership with Samoa Law Society and UN Women will be hosting a two-day forum, starting tomorrow.
To be held at the Courthouse, Mulinu’u, the Forum will discuss the current status of Family Law in Samoa and what lessons can be learned from practicing justices and barristers visiting from New Zealand.
The talks will be attended by key members of the Samoa Law Society, the president of Samoa Victim Support Group, as well as local judges.
The keynote address will be given by her Honour Judge Jan-Marie Doogue, Chief District Court Judge (NZ).
Other guest speakers include barrister Faumui Penelope Ginnen (NZ) and Doreen Buettner of UN Women, and Ophir Cassidy (NZ).
The objective of the Family Law Forum is to bring together legal experts to share experiences and knowledge regarding Family Law as it is practiced overseas and here in Samoa.
